I was born in Ottawa, Canada in 1961 and save and except living in London, England for a year, London, Ontario for ten months and Quebec for almost two years, Ottawa has been my home. It's a great place! My beautiful wife Angelina and I live a block from the famous Rideau Canal (the world's longest skating rink) in an area called “the Glebe.”

Music has been a part of my life since about grade seven. My best friend Rob, who lived across the street played guitar and so I asked my parents to buy me one for Christmas. I had been one of those kids who was picked on in school and I thought that by learning to play the guitar I might be better liked. Rob would give me lessons for a penny and it wasn’t long before we put a band together called Purple Haze. Soon after, I also started to play bass because we did not know any bass players and Rob was much better at guitar than I. We were young, had stars in our eyes, and were very serious about “making it”. Unfortunately, I got booted out of the band and was replaced by another bass player.

This was the first major heartbreak I can remember since I had attached so much worth and meaning to being part of a band. So, in high school, I formed another band called Praxis. These were formative years where we musicians of the seventies would spend hours and hours learning the licks of our favorite players. For me, the two bass players I emulated were Geddy Lee of the band Rush and Chris Squire of Yes. My initial motives for getting into music were now being replaced by a genuine love and passion for the art form.

Within a year or two Rob and I made up our differences and he asked me back into the band. As high school drew to a close, we had a big decision to make…go to University or go on tour. We had changed the name of the band to Galleon and we chose to go on tour. I went to the bank, took out a loan for $700.00 and we bought a forty-foot school bus and headed west. At this point we were a three-piece band playing our favorite songs from Rush, Triumph and Jimi Hendrix. When we got out there, the first club didn't even let us unpack our gear as they realized by our appearance and huge amounts of equipment that we were not there to play Kenny Rogers. Our booking agent immediately slid us into the B ciruit and we headed to our first gig in Slave Lake, Alberta. After touring out west for two months we came back with $50.00 left in our pockets which was spent fixing a flat tire a few miles from home.

In those days as now, it was a big deal to get out of the garage and become a full time touring act. The tour out west proved to be the experience we needed to recognize what was missing to become successful. We transformed ourselves from a three-piece progressive power trio to a four-piece glamour band. Over the next several years Galleon established itself as one of Canada’s premier Club acts. In those days, there existed a circuit where up and coming artists were making their mark and could also make a living. Along with that came an excessive lifestyle that left my health in shambles. In 1983 I left the band to pursue a career in Real Estate. Within six months I went from long blonde hair, leather pants and knee high boots to a suit and tie and agreements of purchase and sale. A radical shift!

Then, after a seven-year hiatus from music I began writing songs again. While the recording of this new material was taking place, I was also attending a bible study and experienced a powerful conversion to Christ. I started writing a second set of lyrics for the same songs to express my new found faith.

Eventually, I came to see through the Lord’s guidance that He wanted "my music" to be used for His purposes only. I scrapped most of the original lyrics and released a Cd in 1996. The album, Call to Witness, was a musical resume of my journey to faith in Christ. Since then, I have been performing and leading worship in many settings including evangelistic events, youth retreats and itinerant church meetings. I have also been writing and recording a couple of new Cd's. The first, Rest in His Presence, is a collection of intimate prayer songs with guitar and vocal. The other-"In Your House," will be ready for release sometime in 2006.

About five years into my walk with the Lord, I was led to add a wife to my prayer list. I met Angelina in the spring of 1999 on a Christian singles site. We were married July 4th of that same year. It all happened very fast and the Lord's grace and favor was upon us. We both recognize this is not the norm nor necessarily should be but we received much confirmation at the time. After almost five years I am so thankful for our marriage and the opportunity it gives us to try to live up to being an example of Christ and His church. In February of 2000 Lorna Duek of 100 Huntley Street did a follow up interview with us to see how we were doing and to speak about our meeting on the web. The following video clip is some of that interview.
